About The Author

Ed is a retired educator and criminal lawyer. One day, while out running, he had a “widow maker” heart attack. He decided he had some things he wanted to say about life to his grandchildren before passing on. Ed retired. But oh! he wondered, how to give life advice without being preachy, dull, and insufferable–a nearly impossible task. Pondering this dilemma, he decided upon a strategy–to hide his insights in fiction so they wouldn’t suspect his purpose! Using Arthurian literature as camouflage, he hid his ideas in conversations with Sir Launcelot and under rocks in Merlin’s Cave Finding the subterfuge amusing .

About Sounds of Christmas

Sounds of Christmas is many things at once: an introduction to carols for the young, a resource for the curious about our deep Christian heritage, a guide to the lover of sacred music, and a gift to enrich the experience of those for whom these are classic favorites. It is more than a compendium of the magnificent Christmas choral tradition; it is also a portal into history—into the backgrounds, origins, and uses of the beloved carols.

What people ask

Q: How did this set of recordings come about?

A: Dorothy: Many years ago, a cousin wanted a record of Christmas carols. I arranged most of the carols and used some Liszt, A Christmas Tree, and used them. I recorded them at Valdosta State University, and I recorded them in the concert hall.
